I’m having a battle with myself and the battle is between the decision of whether to let myself age gracefully or slow the aging look down a bit and take out ‘just a tad’ of the gray but leave a little for more of a natural look. What to do … WHAT to DO … shall we pray…I’m wondering why it is that most of the women I went to school with, feel like they need to color their hair ANYWAY? Why don’t THEY want to grow old gracefully? Is it ‘insecurity on their part? OR is it a plot that I don’t know about for THEM to stay looking younger and to make ME look OLDer. I’ll bet that’s IT!!!
Seems like I’ve added a ton more gray to MY hair in the last few weeks, since my dizzy wizzies around the holidays. My goodness, that was so bad and lasted so long, I was beginning to think something was bad wrong. And then I started pulling out of that and Billy came down with that horrible flu and was sick for 3 weeks and he started pulling out of that and we started working wood because we were running a little low on the back porch and “I” pulled my BACK out of whack and now I’ve been down for 2 MORE weeks. We’re so exhausted from problems and being down we want to take a trip, but we’re almost too exhausted to even do THAT right now. AND I still can’t sit for very long OR get up or down easily when I DO sit. And it’s about 12-15 hours in the car to where he’s wanting to GO so … we will get there but the prayers continue….
I had to run to Walmart after I went to the chiropractor yesterday because my black ink cartridge was empty and I print off each and every blog and I was now 2 days behind. So I just ran over there to do that and ran into an old friend from school. Now this old friend is about 4 years older than me, which would put her at about 70. But she had on tons of makeup and her hair was dark auburn and she had on a spiffy outfit that looked like it cost almost as much as the taxes on our new truck just did. AND here I was in my jeans and mauve, long sleeved t-shirt and black sweater and my salt and pepper Sharon hair and I was walking all bent over like a Hunza woman in her 120’s. I felt like Helen’s grandma. AND she looked me up and down like she was thinking the same doggone THING. Well let’s just say that encounter didn’t do squat for my low self esteem. So I was walking back to the car and I thought “I should go back in and look at hair color because Jeannie has told me over and over that there was a foam that I could comb through my hair and just put it on very lightly and that bottle would last me months because I’d just need a tad. So you just shampoo and comb just a tad through your hair and wash it right back out and that 1 minute it takes to DO that just covers just a tad of your hair AND doesn’t make it dark at all, but just natural. So I was hobbling to the car and I thought…”You know I owe it to Geezer to DO that beCAUSE he’s a picky and proud geezer and I’ll bet he’d feel better about the way I look TOO” So I took my little sack on to the car because I had already buzzed the panic button in the Walmart door when I came out with my ink cartridge and I didn’t want to end up in JAIL with an ink cartridge I had already PAID for just trying to get back in and look at the hair color. SO after about 8 minutes I had made my way to my car to put up my ink cartridge and got back in to the hair color aisle and I’ll be SWITCHED, the hair color Jeannie TOLD me about has been taken off the market and replaced with 2 bottled of something you have to mix. If that isn’t just my LUCK. SO I had NO CLUE what ELSE to try. so I just hobbled back to the car and headed home….I DO MISS my dark brown hair. I’m not going to lie to ya. And my hairstyle is what Geezer has always called “Sharon Hair” and that name came about because of a mentally challenged lady that went to our church during the years Geezer was still going and her hair was naturally curly but it was always a MESS, just windblown and not combed and she never tried to do anything with it. Now I have the short and curly windblown look but I DO try to keep it tidy. I LOVE natural curly hair! I’m just not a fan of straight hair at all or long hair. My goodness, to me there’s just nothing feminine about either. But then, who asked ME. AND I”M THE ONE walking like the 120 year old Hunza woman with salt and pepper hair so I doubt I’ll be featured on the cover of a magazine any time soon. They say women who let their hair go gray naturally are called Gray Panthers and they are women who are comfortable with who they are. They are women who inspire to do and be their real self. Well now THAT sounds pretty doggone GOOD to ME … how bout YOU?
But why is it that men who go gray are distinguished looking and they’re considered experienced and knowledgeable..but when we women go gray … we’re just considered old ladies? And then so many of these distinguished gray haired old husbands leave their wives that have salt and pepper hair ALSO for younger women with NO gray because their wives with the same color hair as THEY have … now make THEM feel OLD. WHAT???
You guys with the big head and the gray hair, go in the bathroom and take off you shirt and hold your arm up … see those WRINKLES? You’re not going to fool a 44 year old for LONG, you ridiculous old fools. Those women are after you MONEY because they know you have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. You’d BETTER worship the salt and pepper woman that’s been beside you through thick and thin. But then … that’s up to you I guess….
Well … the color Jeannie told me to get was Clairol’s Loving Care Foam, I believe and she said get light ash brown and just comb it through and rinse real fast and that would just knock the stark gray off but leave plenty of gray to look natural. And wouldn’t you know they’d take it off the market. If that had worked for me it would have probably given me the big head ANYWAY … to look so young and worldly and have all this older woman’s knowledge all crammed in my brain. 🙂
Ooook goodness … I’m going to get off here … tons to do today and my back is still not cooperating. I’m still down most of the day and NOT a happy camper … just have too much to do to be sitting and it’s about gardening time and I want to get done in the house…
Peace and love from the canyon … I love you all gobs and thanks so SO much … for stopping by. This has been a bird’s eye view of the katydid and until next time … you are loved….
