INSOMNIA
Insomnia may be known as a simple sleep disorder, but there’s nothing simple or easy about insomnia. I think if you were to look that word up in the dictionary – you would find a picture of me there. I am dealing with the most horrific case of insomnia a person can imagine and none of the rules or why fore’s seem to apply to ME. SO we have no clue what is going on with me. My insomnia got old a long time ago and I’m frantically searching for a Insomnia home remedies.
Not to get too personal … have no fear about that. But our time from supper time on, day after day after day – decade after decade – used to be my favorite time of the day. We’d have a cozy supper and watch television and gab until just after the news and then climb into our super high – warm and fuzzy Paul Bunyon bed and snuggle until we fell asleep. Geezer was always the winner in the “who gets to sleep first” contest … but as long as I was snuggling and cozy I could lay there and let my mind wander and make plans for tomorrow and the day after that and on and on and on. And I’d soon drift off to sleep.
Causes of Insomnia
Now they say there are 2 types of insomnia – acute and chronic. And acute is a kind of temporary insomnia from little life stresses like job problems or marital problems, too much light in the room or noise outside or illness or a death in the family. And chronic insomnia is more of a long term thing and it can be caused by depression and stress and pain.
They say you have chronic insomnia if you lose sleep more than 3 nights a week for more than a few weeks.
My Psycho Insomnia Story
But about 2 1/2 years ago – one of my wires sprung a spring or something and I just haven’t been able to sleep since.
Now I don’t have the issues of any of the above to any extent. I’m dealing with depression NOW because I CAN’T SLEEP and I’m missing my snuggle time. But what could have caused it to start in the first place?
As the evening wears on – day after day – I get more and more awake as we get closer to bedtime. By the time the 10pm news is over – I am absolutely wide awake and I stay that way until about 2 or 3am when I start to get a little dozy. I can stretch out on the love seat and sometimes sleep for one or two hours … but if I get up and try to sneak to the bed without getting my insomnia’s attention … I wake up totally awake AGAIN and all I’ve done for the last 24 hours is doze for a very few minutes. SO there’s acute and chronic, but I’m calling MY insomnia – PSYCHO Insomnia!
Could this be menopause insomnia?
I’ve tried Vitamin B Complex … and taking extra of that and that has actually helped me some. And I have a miracle magnesium oil on the way and I have GRAND hopes for THAT!!! It should be here Monday and according to the reviews, if it gets here on time … I will be sleeping Monday night !!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!
But if you have insomnia and it’s more of a natural insomnia and not a psycho insomnia like “I” have … here are a few things that may work for YOU!
Insomnia Home Remedy
If you have Insomnia – B Complex is good and it even helps to add the Vitamin B 12 sublingual. Chiropractic adjustments can work wonders if you have regular insomnia. And so can deep breathing and calming of the whole body just before bedtime. Lights down low and just start putting yourself IN a sleep mode with a little medication.
I’ll update on the magnesium oil when it gets here. It’s supposed to be good for restless leg, migraine
