This is My Daily Journal and today is Thursday, February 22, 2018 and it’s only 7:18 but I’m already running about 3 hours behind. :-/ Now I’ve been UP since 4 a.m. – but there are animals to feed – and dailies to do – and then you know I’m working on this Junk Book to get it done, video’d and posted for sale. AND THEN – I decided to set out some of my rocks that were already base coated – so I could paint on my Kindness rocks while listening to Kim this morning on WMOK – so I’ll be painting and listening to her in just a bit.
My Daily Journal: The Power Of Prayer
TODAY – let’s talk quickly about the power of prayer – and how you can use prayer for ANYTHING!!! And I have a reason for telling this story – so don’t go running off to the kitchen or something because you’re afraid I’ll get onto the subject of religion and accidentally save your soul – or at the very least – get you under conviction. But just as a heads up – you have insurance on your health – home – vehicles and more – don’t you? Think about that for just a minute – and it will hit you …
My Daily Journal: And The JUNK BOOK JOURNALS –
This junk book is going with the theme of the old home place we all grew up in – and regardless of our age – we all have an ‘old home place’ in the backs of our minds. SO – I’ve always been stuck in the 1950’s and I love stories, poems, storytelling – and the likes of ‘anything’ to do with a simpler day and time and the times of my childhood – so this was right down my alley.
I was needing one more short reading to fill a page yesterday morning – so I just went on the hunt in my stash. And in my digging – like I was panning for gold – I ran across the most unique reading and it’s called “When I Was 10” – I just said out loud “OH MY GOODNESS – THANK YOU LORD – for helping me to find this READING – because it’s PERFECT!!!”
The day continued on and I’m telling you the truth – the top of our kitchen table looks like a cylone went through a newspaper shop – because I have 2 boxes of buttons and junk charms, 1 tub of stamps, stamp pads and paper punches, 2 tubs of laces for page edging and this and that – 4 crates of clippings of poems, stories and this and that – “word wisdom” I call those crates. 🙂
I’ve collected quotes, poems and short stories for well over 60 years – IN FACT the very first one I ever bought was on a trip to Memphis when I was a little girl – and daddy took us all to the Gospel Singing Convention there – and I bought a little hankie in the Stuckey’s gift shop – with a quote on it 🙂 and it was the cutest – most warm and fuzzy quote – and I think that’s what set my heart to pinning for collecting quotes. I need to see if that hankie is in my stash somewhere –
Geezer had done a short project in the workshop and came in and I fixed us a bite of lunch – and he set down to watch an old movie from the 1940’s and I went back to our kitchen table – to work.
Now if you’ve ever been to our home – you know our front door opens to a long room that goes all the way to the kitchen – so even if Geezer is in his recliner and I’m in the kitchen – we’re still ‘both in one room’ and we chit chat constantly 🙂
I needed to coffee dye and bake a few more things and I started looking for that little paper I had found earlier – “When I Was 10” – but I couldn’t find that rascal ANYWHERE! I was talking to myself and saying “Now I KNOW that rascal is HERE – because I just had it in my hands and ALL of my crates and papers are all around me.”
The day was winding down by now and I was wanting and needing to get to a stopping place – but I couldn’t find that one reading anywhere so I could wrap up my last coffee dying/baking process for the day.
THEN – I remembered how Sister Frances used to come to church and she’d get up to testify ALL THE TIME 🙂 and she was always telling about how she’d lose things and when she finally gave up on finding the item herself – she’s just sit down in her chair and say “Ok Lord – I give up – YOU know where my keys (or whatever) are – and I don’t – and I’m tired of looking – so I’m just going to sit right here and when you have time – you just let me know where they are – and we’ll have that problem solved.” She said it wouldn’t be no time and it would dawn on her where her lost item was – she’d go get it and thank the Lord for showing her where it was and she’d be off and on to something else.
I learned a TON over the decades from Sister Frances, Grandma McGinnis and Sister Dorothy – SO I said “Ok Lord – it’s been a long day – and you know that paper I found this morning “When I Was 10″ – and how excited I was to find such a perfect insert for my junk book? Well as you already KNOW – I’ve LOST that paper somehow in this mess and I’m just exhausted and tired of looking – so I’m going to set right down here until you let me know where it is.”
Geezer heard me talking and said “What? You want me to help you find a PAPER?” I said “NOOOOOOOOO I was talkin’ to the LORD!” Geezer just said “Oookkk” – Ok and on a more serious note – prayers appreciated there – I need to get him back in church – please and thanks and shall we pray…..
FINALLY – I realized the paper wasn’t going to show up – so I hit the shower and then the love seat. Geezer said “Did the Lord find you that paper?” I said “Not yet!” 🙂
I got up this morning at 4 a.m and turned on the light over the kitchen table and what do you think was sitting there? YES!!!!!! THAT PAPER!!! Now it was tucked in another journal book – but I had been THRU that book 2-3 times – because I had other papers tucked in there.
My Daily Journal: Prayer WORKS and Nothing Is Too Large, Small or Frivolous for God!
Just remember – that nothing is too large or small or frivolous for the Lord! And I pray on and off all day long – but I don’t ever – say “Thee and Thou and Thine Own” 🙂 I said “Hey God – heads up – I’m having a panic attack over – bladdy blah – and I need a bucket of peace poured down over me and then I’ll be back on track and you can get back to more serious things.” And BAMM – It’s just like a big bucket of water/or peace – is being poured down over me. Works every time – and I’m tellin’ you that with my hand UP!
The day my BP spiked a few days ago – Geezer said “We’d better head to the ER -” And I said “NO – now just let me set here and relax and pray” I did just that and in about 20 minutes I was back to my old self.
Sometimes I’ll say “Hey – Yoo Hoo – It’s me again Lord – I know you’re busy – but …….” I talk to the Lord – just like I talk to this old Geezer – so think about that the next time YOU have a problem or ache or pain that you can’t solve.
OK – sermon over – now let’s all get our Broadman Hymnals and turn to page 99 – standing as we sing “Where Ever He Leads I’ll Go” 🙂
I hope you all have a most precious and fantabulous – grand and groovy zippity doo dah day …
Peace and just oodles and gobs of love – coming to all of you from Round Knob canyon –
Here’s a sneak peek at what I’m working on and the big book is on the bottom and hardly visible and the tiny/thin books are ‘tuck ins’ –
