This is My Daily Journal and today is Monday, February 19, 2018. We’ve now got one of the biggest holidays of the year behind us and we’re slowly inching our way on towards Easter – which is April 1st this year – and that first hint of spring.
My Daily Journal: Our Top 5 List Of Most Read Articles
In what Kim and I call our Top 5 List of most read articles – you’ll find the very researched articles we do on decluttering – getting organized – speed cleaning – and making homes cozy, warm and fuzzy. And there’s a BIG surprise coming up on that “cozy homes” issue very soon – so stay tuned.
But I mean – REALLY! WHO wants to live in – or come home to – a home that is not fairly tidy and cozy?
This morning is no different! I’ve logged into our daily stats to record them in my log book and one of our blogs on how to get organized – speed clean and make home warm and cozy is just almost going viral and we’re only about 6 hours into this day and it isn’t even daylight yet. 🙂
SO – Let’s Talk About Homemaking and Homemakers Just A Bit –
HOMEMAKING and HOMEMAKERS
Do you realize that whether you are SEO of a company or Administrative Assistant to the President of one of the biggest companies in this great country – that the most ‘important’ job you have – is that of wife, mom and homemaker?
Homemaking is so much more than being just a housekeeper and trying to juggle everybody’s schedules – while picking up fast food or having a good meal at the end of the day.
HOMEMAKING is absolutely and without a doubt – the ultimate career and a priceless opportunity to truly care for those you love most and to make each and every one of their days – the absolute best each of those days can be.
NOW – who’s going to make YOUR day? Well – if you’re like me – making life full of fun and having the opportunity to encourage hopes and dreams and juggling responsibilities and schedules and this and that to make sure your spouse and kids have a wonderful day/life – that IS what makes my day.
Only a devoted homemaker can make a home a haven and provide a calm and comforting space that gives birth to memories that will last a lifetime and beyond.
Being a devoted homemaker – requires effort, time and sacrifice – and it’s the most important work you will ever do in your entire life –
Homemaking is that work you do – that you often feel so overwhelmed by – inside the walls of your own home – that some days you feel like you can’t breathe. But this is the role you took on – when you said “I do” 🙂
OH WAIT – maybe you watched those storybook sitcoms where everybody is always dressed nice! And nobody every has to clean house and you rarely even see anyone cook – and heaven forbid someone should do DISHES or LAUNDRY on one of those sitcoms! And you just all go about your days making chit chat and laughing and loving and then night time come and you all snuggle in your individual beds and drift off to dream land while visions of sugar plums dance in your little heads?
Truth of the matter IS – if they made sitcoms to play out like real life – no one would watch – But THIS IS YOUR LIFE – wives – moms and homemakers and you have been given the grandest and most priceless opportunity of all time.
I don’t know where I’d be today – if I hadn’t discovered The Sidetracked Sisters – back in the early 1970’s. Their book was life changing for me and I learned volume’s and then put that priceless knowledge to work in our own home. They are the ones that taught me speed cleaning and always having shiny sinks and faucets 🙂 And how to prepare for tomorrow – the night before. And the importance of meal planning and decluttering. My family could never EVER repay them – for what they taught me – in this little thin book.
But I truly – truly – LOVE my job as wife, mom and homemaker of Round Knob Canyon and I take it very seriously. This is such a priceless and grand opportunity – a sufficient salary price tag couldn’t even be put ON the job of wife, mom and homemaker – if that job is done right.
I’ve said so many times that I grew up in a storybook life – and THEN – married an old Geezer that has given me over 52 more years – of storybook living. I have had such a blessed life!!!
Problems along the way? Oh anybody that says they’ve never had problems in their lives – are just lying to ya and if you’ll check back with them tomorrow – they’ll have a big old blister on their tongue 🙂
Let’s all be thinking about our homes – and the way they’re run and kept over the coming days.
THINK ABOUT that responsibility you’ve accepted – and how you’re handling it –
AND THEN – think about how you’re going to make positive changes – to assure that when your kids are grown – they will be able to say – “I grew up in a storybook life”
We rush through our days – and cram so much in – and don’t give much thought to much of anything, really – like we think we’re going to live forever.
Let’s CHANGE all of that – Let’s ALL – start thinking of things we can do – and unique ways we can make – each day special. And we can DO that – on any income or budget. Because the most important things in life – don’t cost a dime folks – not one dime.
The Art of Cozy Living – coming soon – stay tuned!!!
Peace and lots of love – coming right straight to you – from Round Knob Canyon – do ya FEEL it? 🙂
Below is another sneak peek glimpse at my almost done – Junk Book Journal.
Towards the end of the book – you can probably see in this photo – several pages that are just tucked in and still need to be put into place. And all those little books are tiny tuck books and they’ll be going in too – into some of the ‘pockets’ inside this book.
Some call their creations junk journals and they leave a lot of blank space for people to write in them – but I call mine “Junk Books” because – I have a TON of reading material inside all my books – so even if the person isn’t into journaling – it’s still a priceless gift to read and cherish over and over and over.
I just can’t tell you how I have loved making this book. And book #2 and #3 are already in the works. Covers done – pages covered – waiting to be filled with priceless treasures and WOW moments as you turn from one page to the other.
Many of the junk book journal makers have whole rooms set up to do their work in and they have walls lined with shelves for their stamps and punches and papers and fabric and all their tools and treasures – but I’m using the top of our kitchen table and working out of a big crate … and I’m telling you the truth – it looks like a cyclone hit that table top in mid day.
Geezer will come in the back door from the work shop and say “HOW IN THE WORLD – can you THINK – with all of that mess around you?” 🙂 When I’m ready to stop at the end of the day – I just tidy and organize that mess a bit and throw a table cloth over it and we act like it isn’t even there – because – NO WAY could I totally clean up this mess each evening and set it up again – next morning –
But now other than THAT – we are very tidy- and having fabulous crockpot and oven meals – cooking as I work my magic at this kitchen table. But I just HAD to have some wide open work space to be able to do these – and the kitchen table was my only option for now.
I invite you to join my facebook group for my junk books and it’s just called “Junk Journals – From Grandma With Love”
