At love, home and health – we say in sharing our posts daily that we are “Sharing tips to improve every area of our lives – starting today.” That’s exactly what this movie I’m reviewing today will do for YOU! Just watching this one movie will improve every area of your life – starting today. Who would have ever thought that one little 2 hour movie could make such an impact on me – the 68 year old daughter of a baptist preacher who’s been in church almost every single Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night of my life. IN FACT – it made such an impression on me I felt I had to talk about it – so today I’m sharing “Flywheel – A Movie Review.”
Weaver Creek’s First Movie Night
Sunday night was our first movie night at Weaver Creek and what a night it was. Bro Jake chose Flywheel for our first movie and it’s the first movie that was made by the Kendrick brothers who have made 4 other faith based movies and have just come out with their 5th one – that opened in theaters over the weekend and that was War Room.
We’ll hopefully be seeing War Room this week – but Flywheel got me SO excited to see all the rest of the Kendrick brother’s movies – I just can’t wait. I think I’m just going to order them from Amazon and get a jump start – I’m that excited.
Kendrick Brothers Productions of Albany, Ga
The idea for these movies came to the Kendrick brothers while they were associate pastors of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. They wanted to do something to make a difference and they felt they wanted to make a movie for their community using only volunteers. Their cast and crew were all volunteers and I read somewhere that this first movie “Flywheel” was even filmed with a Canon home movie camera. I’m not sure if that part is correct or not – but to me – the thing that made it work for me was knowing the actors were just plain old everyday people just like you and me.
I read that there were even adlibs in this movie and I tried to watch for them – but didn’t catch any that I knew for sure were adlibs.
They had volunteers that brought food in for the cast and crew daily and volunteers that were baby sitters for this cast and crew. The movie was shot right there in Albany and was initially meant for just the community – but word of the movie and how good it was just kept spreading and before long other churches and towns were wanting to show it and it ended up in theaters and being picked up by big movie companies.
Faith Based Movies
It is rumored to be the movie that started the surge of faith based movies. I understand there are a few celebrities in War Room and I sure hope they don’t ruin their movies with big named people – because their movies don’t NEED that and it will definitely take away from the messages – just my opinion.
Flywheel – The Story Line
The storyline is based around a family man who’s a car dealer and he makes his living by ripping people off with his used cars. Charging them tons more than the cars are worth and he thinks that’s funny – that they don’t have a clue what he’s doing to them and how he makes his living. But as you’ll see in the movie – that kind of behavior isn’t working for him very well – and his life is falling apart in every area.
Along comes the pastor of his ‘rarely visited church’ to buy a good used car for his teenage daughter and old Jay the car dealer rips him off just like he has all his other customers – but the old pastor has no clue. At the end of their visit – the pastor says “Jay I’ve enjoyed our time together today so much and you’ve sold me a fine car that our daughter is going to love – so if you don’t mind I’d like to pray with you and ask God to bless your family and your business.” Jay says “WoW – Sure thing pastor go ahead.” Pastor prays a short but earnest prayer and he ends with “And Lord I’d just like to ask you to bless Jay’s life and his family and business and I’m asking you to treat him – just like he’s treated me today.” Jay’s eye’s pop open – because he KNOWS how he’s just treated this old pastor on this day. He’s just ripped off a pastor – even sold him a car for his young daughter that’s been wrecked and now this pastor has just asked the Lord to do Jay the same – without knowing what has just happened.”
Flywheel Is A Life Changing Movie
It’s just a movie you don’t want to miss. IT IS A LIFE CHANGING MOVIE!!! It will be life changing for people who don’t even GO to church or know the Lord and it will even be life changing for pastors and their congregations everywhere. I REALLY BELIEVE we are on the right track with these movie’s at Weaver Creek because it’s just like I say all the time “We can’t change other people! All we can do is change ourselves!” And these movie’s will sure do that. They will change you from the inside out.
YES!!! We need bible study! But I believe we need FIRST – something to really get our attention and wake us up and make us think in every day terms. We need open hearts and minds and that’s going to come from seeing and studying real life situations and how the way we’re living NOW – relates to our eternal life. We’ll be having another of the Kendrick brothers’ movies at Weaver Creek soon.
Below is the official trailer for this movie – I hope you have time to take a peek. And below that is the link to the Flywheel facebook page.
When you’re up against the devil and all his tricks and strength – AND HE IS AFTER EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US DAILY – you need good ammunition to fight that battle with him. This movie will make a huge impact on your life in just 2 hours.
Peace and love from Round Knob Canyon …
