I wonder just how many of us realize how valuable a simple tomato is to the cells that keep our bodies functioning properly? Just 2 tablespoons of a tomato product a day – can work wonders for your health and healing?
Eating tomatoes has been linked to reduced risk of neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s, dementia, depression and more.
It just has so many health benefits – one would just be goofy – not to add a tomato product in some form to their daily diet.
AND it’s believed by many researchers that just 2 tbsps a day is all you need to get that benefit.
Tomato products are just about the only food that is just as healthy in it’s cooked state as it is in it’s natural, raw state. SO whether you’re drinking Tomato Juice, or V8 or eating fresh or canned tomatoes – you’re doing super major things to keep the cells in your body healthy and strong.
It’s even said that if you’re not a fan of tomatoes, you can just take 2 tbsps of tomato sauce or juice, just like a medicine – and just gulp it down.
Now some think of a tomato as a veggie, other’s say it’s a fruit … but I found that technically – it’s a BERRY. But WHO CARES?
The thing we need to KNOW is that it is HEALING TO OUR BODIES!!!
So let’s just eat it and not worry about what class it goes in.
That Miracle Gel in Tomatoes?
I’m sure we’ve all noticed that kind of ‘gel’ that surrounds the seeds IN tomatoes – right? Well that gel when taken internally – will help to improve your blood flow and that can be nothing but GOOD.
Tomatoes and Lycopene
The Lycopene – which we all know tomatoes are loaded with – will help our cardiovascular system and in a study of cancer patients – they were given higher doses of lycopene and many were able to put their cancer into remission or at the very least, shrink their tumors.
Lycopene has literally been known to shrink cancer cells. So who wouldn’t want to add a tomato or 2 tbsp of any tomato product to their daily diet? Strong evidence indicates that higher lycopene intake can help protect against lung, stomach, colon, oral, breast and cervical cancers.
Lycopene will also lower the risk of free radical damage. And what is free radical damage? Well, it’s just organic molecules in our bodies that are responsible for aging, tissue damage, and even some diseases. These molecules are very wishy washy and not that strong on their own, so they’re constantly on the prowl to come in contact with other molecules so they can become stronger and do as much damage as possible. Antioxidants in our foods are super good molecules that prevent those free radicals from doing their damage. SO we need as many antioxidants in our diet as we can get. GOT IT?
Other nutrients in our tomatoes – help prevent too much clumping of our platelets and THAT will reduce our chances of getting a blood clot. So are you beginning to see just how important it IS to have at least 2 tbsps of a tomato product a day?
Thankfully – we LOVE tomatoes and we have tomato in some form – daily. In the summer we each have a small bowl of those little Small Fry tomatoes at least once a day.
These books below are just some of my favorite books that talk about diet. I wouldn’t trade my “God’s Way To Ultimate Health” book for a farm in Texas. It is written so simply and just loaded with such good information to help us all stay so strong and healthy.
The N.W. Walker books are small thin books and they’ll cost you anywhere from about $3 to $7 on amazon. They’re very old books but just loaded with simple but priceless information on how our diet can make us or break us. He has several books – I believe about 6 or 7 and I have them all and wouldn’t take anything for them. If you can afford to own them all – and if your health and vitality is important to you – you should have them all in your own libraries too.
Tomatoes in some form almost daily – are one of the best things we can do to help our bodies stay strong and healthy. AND – did you know that it’s believed over 7,500 different tomato species are grown around the world today?
Tomatoes: A Little History
I found in my research, that “tomatoes have a long history dating back thousands of years to around the time of 500 B.C. in Mexico, where they were a staple crop for the Aztecs and eaten along with beans and corn. Aztecs and other peoples in the Mesoamerican era used the slightly sweet “fruit” in many diverse ways and even held tomatoes in high spiritual regard — tomato seeds were believed to be “blessed with powers of divination.” And they are the 2nd most produced veggie because they are so healthy and popular. They’re a super source of lycopene, beta-carotene, folate, potassium, vitamin C, flavonoids and Vitamin E – PLUS THEY ARE DELICIOUS. Which makes it so easy for us to have tomatoes in some form almost every single day. And we drink a glass of V8 almost every single day – USUALLY with a tbsp of cayenne and a tsp on apple cider vinegar in it. It is a SUPER elixir if you want to try to stay youthful and vibrant as long as possible.
I’m just so glad we love tomatos in Round Knob Canyon. We eat tons of them fresh in the summer – just sliced or diced and salt, peppered and cayenned and put in a big bowl. They’re like a condiment for any meal for us or a delicious side dish.
