The Longevity Secrets of the Blue Zone People, Hunzas and several other specific societies and cultures are widely known, but not as widely followed here in the United States.
Longevity is something we all hope and pray for most of our adult lives – or is it? What is longevity, really?
Longevity is referring to the length of a person’s life in years.
But do we really want longevity if that means growing more and more feeble and disabled as we age?
Maybe lose our hearing and most of our vision? To be riddled with aches and pains beyond description?
Is that really living – no matter what older age we may grow to be?
We should long for longevity – but then do all we can do to make those years in the twilight of our lives – some of the best years we’ve had.
The purpose of longevity is to live a fruitful life into one’s late years – staying alive on a machine until you’ve outlived everyone else is not longevity…
Let’s look into longevity and how to make it a blessing instead of a curse …
Longevity
A Blessing or a Curse?
What is young adulthood? It’s usually blessed with intense and new love and family and kids and jobs – and burdens out the wazoo.
Midlife comes along and we’re kind of set in our ways! We’ve sacrificed things we’ve really kind of wanted ourselves – to supply all the needs of that growing family during our young adulthood. In our midlife, we splurge – we eat out way too much, we buy gallons of ice cream in one shopping trip instead of the little box of popsicles we used to buy to share with the whole family and we have steak and fried potatoes 3 times a week and cake or pie at least twice a day.
We get to our senior years and our bodies are so riddled from the overload of all that fat and sugar and dairy that we have to have assistance getting up out of our chairs. SO we say loudly at church as Deacon Sims is helping us up out of our pew “Boy old age is for the birds” Well NO – if you had been EATING like a bird – you wouldn’t be having such a problem getting up out of that PEW.
