Would you like to know how to stop craving sugar and sugar laden products?
It’s so simple – just stop eating sugar and sugar laden products and your body will not only quickly adjust – but will thank you for it a thousand times over.
If you will start your day tomorrow with a little lean protein and low carb and a little fiber and keep that pattern throughout the day – you will be amazed at how fast your sugar cravings will go away AND how good you feel.
To Stop Craving Sugar – Stop Eating Sugar!
Did you know it is estimated that Americans eat about 200 pounds of sugar per person per year? Did you also know that our bodies were only designed to handle about 15 to 25 pounds of sugar per year? So what do you think happens to all the rest of that sugar?
Well I’ll tell you what’s happening to it – it stays busy working daily just like a little army of Pac Men – wrecking havoc on every organ in your body.
Too much sugar is very bad for the liver and pancreas and kidneys and heart. It’s bad for your skin and hair and nails. There just isn’t a whole lot of good we can say about sugar – except it tastes good.
Too Much Sugar Causes Deficiencies
Eating sugar causes deficiencies of all the B Complex vitamins and minerals like zinc and these things are all so crucial if we want to have a healthy immune system.
The B Complex vitamins are also crucial to our nervous system and who want their nervous system to go off whack?
Sugar Paralyzes the Immune System
Did you know that just 3 tsps of sugar will deplete your immune system for 6 hours?
Now what if you have about 3 tsps of sugar at breakfast on cereal or in coffee, and even if just a coca cola is all the sweet you have at lunch – THAT will have 9 tsps of sugar in IT – so that’s going to deplete your immune system for another 6 hours and you haven’t even recovered from the sugar at breakfast yet.
Then supper rolls around and my goodness – what all are you having? Maybe potatoes (they turn to sugar) Sweet Tea or another Coca Cola and maybe cake and ice cream for a tv snack.
Do you see what you’re doing to your body on a daily basis? You don’t even HAVE an active immune system. OH my GOODNESS!!! It’s a wonder you’re still alive to even READ this.
People eat and drink like that on a daily basis and then wonder why they’re always sick with colds and flu and bronchitis and other things.
White table sugar is literally a toxic drug and it’s going to paralyze your immune system.
You are voluntarily committing slow suicide by fork and glass on a daily basis. And the caffeine in these soft drinks and sweet teas aren’t any better – because caffeine suppresses the immune system by upsetting the mineral balance.
Can’t seem to win for losing on these seductive sweet delicacies can we? NO WE CANNOT!!!
Sugar’s Connection to Cholesterol, Triglycerides and Heart Disease
Did you also know that sugar is the real culprit in high cholesterol and triglycerides and heart disease? And did you know you can still eat a diet with lean protein and some fat – but if you’re leaving off the sugar and high carb foods – that will be the fastest weight loss you will ever experience in your life! YES IT WILL!!!
Geezer loves the protein diets because he loves his bacon and eggs and steak. But then when he settles down in the evening to watch tv and gab with me – he’ll often say “Go get us a bowl of ice cream out of the freezer.” I’ll say “But we can’t have ice cream because we’re on the protein diet.” And he’ll say “We’ve eat healthy all day – a little ice cream won’t hurt.” YES IT WILL!!! IF you do the protein diet – even during the day – and add sugar at night – that’s like mixing Quik-Crete in your backyard and you’re cramming it in your arteries.
We could go on and on and on about sugar and it’s destructive nature. But it all boils down to this. Sugar is a poison to our bodies. If we went in the grocery store to buy Coca Cola’s and on the ingredients list – it read “poison” where sugar is – would you buy it?
If you were to sit down to the supper table tonight and you were having fresh strawberries and there was a bowl of tiny white crystals to go on your strawberries – but it was labeled “Poison” – would you still sprinkle a couple of spoonfuls on your strawberries? I kind of doubt it.
If you’d like to read more on restoring your own health and bringing back the energy of your youth –
I very highly recommend “God’s Way to Ultimate Health” ( probably my favorite book of all time) by Dr George Malkmus and “Why Do I Feel So Lousy” by Lorrie Medford.
At the time this was published – amazon didn’t have this book by Lorrie Medford – but I’ve read her writings for so long I can highly recommend anything she writes and they are all SO simply written and easy to understand.
God’s Way to Ultimate Health was very simply written also. Just SUPER books if you like this type of reading.
Until next time … you are loved …

I beg to differ regarding your post “How to Stop Craving Sugar”. I don’t know if you read that information somewhere or you are talking about your own personal experience, but the suggestions you make did NOT work for me. Craving sugar is a problem, it is not poison. Used in moderation like anything else does not harm your immune system and your statements are over the top and disturbing. I did the low carb, no sugar, etc… diet and I still craved sugar, I was on the diet six weeks, I lost 4 pounds! I take issue with you stating that the low carb diet unequivocally stops sugar craving, it does not and I did this diet with 4 other people so it’s not just me. A gullible person would take your comments as bible and that isn’t right.

Well thank you so much for reading, Dana and for you comments. I’ve studied natural healing and living since 1977 and I know it like the back of my hand. I never write a post without thoroughly researching in many different avenues. I study only those naturopathic leaders that I know and trust.
I’m sorry that you’ve had no luck with low carb diets in the past and that you still crave sugar. Sugar is like an addictive drug just like nicotine and many other things and it is often times – a difficult habit to overcome.
I don’t just ‘read’ anything and take it to heart. I “study” holistic health. And even though I began my holistic health journey in 1977 – I still study almost daily at age 68.
I’m wondering what you ate on a daily basis during your 6 weeks – because 6 weeks on a good diet would take about 5 pounds off of a person during the first week – because just leaving off dairy, sugar and white flour would make you loose that or more in fluid. SO six weeks on a good diet – should help anyone to lose at least a good 12 pounds. Now that initial weight loss wouldn’t stay off if you went right back to dairy and sugar because dairy and sugar make your body hold fluids.
If you’d like to contact me – I’d be glad to work one on one with you at no cost whatsoever. But there would be no bickering – let me know if I can help you – ok? Kay

I’d love your help Kay. I have been battling sugar addiction my whole adult life. I have tried different sugar detox programs and have even eaten Paleo but always end up back on sugar.
Kay Comer says
The trick Michelle – is to balance each meal and snack so your sugar doesn’t drop. Have a little good lean protein and some low carb. Don’t start the day with ANY sugar whatsoever. Boiled egg, black coffee or whatever you like – but no sugar, very low carb and a little lean protein. For morning snack have 4-5 walnut halves and a half slice of cheese. We buy the Fischer Walnuts at Walmart and they are delicious and I usually buy the halves. That IS our mid morning or afternoon snack if we have one. SO healthy and gives you energy to boot. Add Vitamin B Complex and we take the Soloray Mega Stress capsules and you should take those twice a day and never take them on an empty tummy. THEY WILL help you keep from craving sugar….there is probably a link to the ones WE take in the blog you read “How to Stop Craving Sugar” … that Vit B Complex is SO good and good for so many things. Drink lots of water or water with freshly squeezed lemon. Water during the day with 1tsp apple cider vinegar is good to keep you balanced. YOU CAN DO IT 🙂 But really? That Vitamin B Complex is crucial to keeping your body balanced in so many ways ….Thanks for reading and hope you stop by often ….email any time …

Thanks so much Kay! Can you give me some low carb ideas and snack ideas? I’m gluten intolerant and I also have a difficult time digesting nuts. Would it be best to have small meals/snacks through the day to stabilize my blood sugar levels or should I opt for three meals with 1-2 small snacks per day. Again thank you for your guidance!
Kay Comer says
Hi Michelle – Yes I’d be glad to help you with some ideas. I’m swamped this morning to get done and get to church for a meeting for our Christmas Program – but I’ll get back to you today or tomorrow… 🙂
Kay Comer says
Sorry – yesterday was crazy with all the extra church work thrown in. But I think you would do find with 3 healthy meals a day and a snack mid morning and afternoon. If you start with a sugary breakfast you WILL CRAVE sugar the rest of the day 🙂 Some low carb and gluten free foods are – tomatoes, greens, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower – apples are especially good to help blood sugar and even a couple slices with a half slice of cheese would strengthen up that blood sugar so it won’t drop. Beans are good and a little higher carb – but they will stabalize your blood sugar too – like white beans, black beans, pinto’s etc. We do a baked dish that we absolutely LOVE and it’s several veggies – sliced or cubed and baked in the oven on a cookie sheet or deeper tray baking pan. I usually bake together – broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cabbage, onions (and we use only SWEET onions – they’re easier on tummy and onions are just very healthy in general) I also add bell peppers, mushrooms and just anything I can think of or have in the veggie drawer….these are ALL low carb and gluten free. Now this sounds like a TON of food to bake – but it bakes down very low. I use about a cup of each – cubed or sliced. I lightly salt and pepper it and when it’s done and still hot and on the baking pan – I dribble melted REAL butter over it and toss it … it is DELICIOUS. Add to that a little baked mackerel or baked skinless chicken or some good lean beef and you have a fantastic healthy meal. You can even bake just one or two of the above with a good healthy meat on the side. Make meat your ‘condiment’ 🙂 Don’t have a plate full of meat and a little veggie 🙂 Have a LOT of baked veggies and a little meat 🙂 Hope this helps and please message any time. Kay

Maria – if your adrenals need repair – and most of us need that – try Celtic Sea Salt – just about 1/4 tsp each day. I put mine in V8 Juice or sometimes my lemon water … it’s easy to get 1/4 tsp a day and it really help with the insomnia, brain fog and other things … ck out my blog on adrenal glands … just type that into the search bar on the blog home page ….. thanks for reading and you’ll LOVE the benefits of the celtic sea salt …
