What is Gout?
What is this gout we hear so much about? What are the symptoms? What causes it? And what do we do about it if we get it?
Well very simply … gout is kind of like arthritis but it’s usually in the foot area and especially the big toe. It’s such a painful ailment that folks with really bad gout can’t even stand for the bed sheet to lay across their toe when it’s inflamed.
I know about Gout first hand, because my old Geezer has had more than his share of problems with Gout. He has been so bad a couple of times that it was all he could do to get up and get ON his crutches to hobble to the bathroom. SO I hit my books and the internet and found him a home remedy. Yup, it’s true … there’s a home remedy for almost everything.
I found that when a person is really bad with gout, they almost always need a steroid shot and a round of meds for about 3 days to get them back on their feet. After that the doctor likes to prescribe meds for them to take … usually … for the rest of their lives.
But HEY LISTEN … those meds can be deadly and Gout is only painful. SO why risk your life on a prescription that could put you in the grave.

Gout Medication Can Be Worse Than the GOUT
Geezer got so bad we finally took him to a foot specialist … There was a Uloric commercial on for a while and it actually SAID “If you have a loved one that had Gout and was given Uloric for treatment and they had a heart attack or stroke or lost their life … you may be entitled to benefits … blah blah blah … first thing he said was “We’ll give you a shot to clear it up quickly and then put you on Uloric” I said “He is NOT ABOUT to take Uloric! That stuff is KILLING people.” The doctor said “WHAT??? Well I didn’t know it was dangerous.” I said “It’s on that commercial on television every evening” He said “Well I’ll have to look into that … I’ve put a lot of patients on it.” 🙁
SO we knew when we went to the doctor out of desperation … that we wanted NO prescription drugs.
We DID accept the steroid shot and 3 days of prescription steroids and then we got on Knudsen’s Just Black Cherry Juice … 1 ounce … twice a day in the beginning. And then went to once a day after the first 2 weeks and Geezer does that every single day. We have just recently gone to the black cherry supplements because they’re so much cheaper and he hasn’t had another round of Gout in 2 years.
Foods that Cause Gout
Many people want to know if diet has anything to do with gout and yes it sure can. Diets too high in animal protein and alcoholic beverages are especially thought to cause gout flare ups. Sometimes a person can come down with a bad case of gout just because their body produces too much Uric Acid on it’s own and then has a problem removing it naturally.
Obesity can also cause gout because most obese people eat way too much animal protein, fat and sugar … ALL culprits of a bout with gout …

Eating a healthy diet will reduce your chances of coming down with gout as well as many other ailments.
Cut way back on sugar, animal protein, fat … NO alcohol and get plenty of exercise.
Exercising daily will increase the blood flow … which makes the immune system fight the inflammation of gout.
It just stands to reason that most of our illnesses are caused by diet and lifestyle, SO WHY IN THE WORLD would a person deliberately poison their own bodies a little at a time … hour after hour … all day long … day after day?
It just kind of makes us all look like a bunch of blithering idiots … doesn’t it? It’s like going to a big county fair and there are so many fun booths there full of love and light and magical wonder… but there are also booths that are dark and dangerous and cause nothing but pain. SO we pass up the booths full of fun and light and magical wonder and walk right to the booth that is dark and dangerous and is absolutely going to do us in eventually. Now just how stupid … is THAT?
